A new 6-storied job centre was constructed on the site of an old market hall at Oberhausen's Altmarkt. An urbanistic exclamation and invigorating element for the Oberhausen city centre.
The greenhouse on the roof of the building at a height of over 20 m is the icing on the cake. In this urban farming project, a completely new ecological approach was pursued. It is not only a place of production, but also a place of innovation! Up there are growing strawberries, floating salads and particularly aromatic herbs. By collecting rainwater and using the waste heat and waste water from the building operations, the topic of sustainability takes on a whole new meaning. This approach is unique both in Germany and in neighbouring countries. A vertical garden creates the transition between the job centre an its roof greenhouse.
