After several initial difficulties with regard to approval, the new garden center owned by the Steul-Schmitt family has finally been completed. Facing the street, its main nave, whose ground floor has been built as a massive construction, is characterized by a distinctive appearance. The side naves complete the impressive structure as well as the transversal pent roof building in the rear, hosting warehouses and social rooms.
The two-story main nave accomodates a cafeteria with a covered outdoor area on the upper floor. The ground floor is divided into a warm and a cold section. The latter can be opened towards the open space by means of gates. A very high insulation capacity of the garden center is achieved by the glazing with high-quality insulating glass and powerful insulating panels. Thanks to the partially massive construction, temperature peaks can be buffered in summer so that the building does not heat up as much as a conventional garden center.
In close cooperation with the construction owner and the architect, Rabensteiner has built the 2,400 m² installation. Besides, many works beyond the regular greenhouse construction, such as massive construction, interior fittings, plaster, electrical and sanitary installations as well as the interior flooring, were handled by Rabensteiner.
