Since 1985, the company Dehner has operated a market in Heidelberg, which has though been characterized by a rather unfavorable location and which, in addition, needed an enlargement due to the strong demand. These two main factors led the Dehner company to the construction of a new market at a different location. In a perfect setting at Eppenheimer Strasse, directly next to a shopping mall, the new garden center, whose central characteristic is its new entrance gate - for the first time built in the CI, the corporate Identity of all future Dehner markets - was set up. The complete Dehner assortment is offered on a total area of 5,700 m², whereby a special accent should be put on the attractive zoo department. In technical terms, the new market shows off with its high insulation standard that is achieved by means of the Rabensteiner Thermo gutter, high-quality insulation glasses and a higher insulation capacity of the insulation panels. Glass areas are only set up where they are urgently needed. All other surfaces, e.g. in front of shelves, were built with highly efficient insulation panels. Hence, even the strict requirements of the EnEV 2009 - the energy saving regulation - can be fulfilled.
Also the heating system of the new Dehner garden center is different from classical heating installations. The garden center is heated with a district heating system and a respective transfer station. Heat emission occurs via a low-noise air heater that can react to the different temperatures very quickly.
Besides the successful and well-designed project, the short construction time shall also be mentioned. In late September of last year, the construction start was filed and on March 3, the garden center could be inaugurated. Hence, the construction time amounted to five months, during which all works such as soil works, drainage, construction and setup of the massive building and the garden center, completion works and open-air facilities were implemented.
